Arup load modeling of the 15 MW fixed-offshore design

Arup delivered an independent concept-level structural assessment of the CLS Wind platform on a representative 15 MW fixed-monopile reference turbine.

Arup has completed an independent third-party load modeling exercise on the CLS Wind offshore platform (the Phase II structural assessment, September 2022), using a representative 15 MW reference turbine on a fixed monopile. The work assesses the load distribution into the monopile foundation and the effect of the structural chords on tower strength, loads and fatigue.

The result confirms the core platform principle: lift loads route through CLS Wind structural chords into the monopile foundation, and the existing tower is largely bypassed as a load path.

This is the first of two planned independent load modeling engagements. The second, with Kent Engineering on a 15 MW floating three-column semi-submersible, is now underway.
